Highway Division

Description of Our Services
The Wolfeboro Highway Division consists of ten (10) full-time employees and one (1) part-time employee. The Division is responsible for the maintenance of (68) miles of road to include drainage, road grading, pavement patching, pavement markings, roadside mowing, ensuring proper signage, snow and ice control, sidewalk maintenance, dock maintenance and smaller construction projects as time allows.

During a snow and ice event this Division employs its entire fleet to provide the safest roads possible for the general motoring public. All salt and sand spreaders are calibrated to ensure “sensible salting” to minimize effects to the environment and to prevent wasteful spending. Salt and sand application rates are dictated in harmony with the NH DOT standards. On average the division uses approximately 3,000 tons of sand and 1,200 tons of salt annually. The Town of Wolfeboro has a written snow policy which includes all plow routes and general guidelines.
