2021-2023 REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS Cate Park Landscaping

The Town of Wolfeboro is seeking proposals for pruning and care of flowers, shrubs and hedges at Cate Park. Details are provided below.

An annual purchase order will be issued upon awarding the bid. The Town of Wolfeboro will reserve the option to renew the contract each year for 3 years.

Please include with your proposal the following:
 Short narrative describing how you will meet the specifications on Page 2.

o List types and quantities of annuals and perennials planned for each season. o List frequency of maintenance visits: weeding, watering, etc...
o List other comparable properties that your firm maintains.
o List qualifications and experience of Gardening Staff.

  Proof of Insurance: Worker’s Compensation and General Liability ($1M each occurrence, $2M aggregate)

  2 customer references

  At least 2 photographs of client properties which demonstrate your ability to create an appealing

garden/landscape with characteristics similar to Cate Park.

  Provide separate costs for materials and labor for each year 2021-2023.

Feel free to include any additional information that you feel may assist us in awarding this bid, such as terms of delivery of the product, savings for bulk purchases or substituted items of higher or equivalent quality, specialized skills, etc...

This is a Request for Proposals, and the proposals will be evaluated on multiple criteria:

  Narrative provided by vendor

  Professional management of comparable properties

  Positive references

  Past performance for Town (if any)

  General sense of artistry and ability to use plants to create a lush, attractive public site that is the focal point of

downtown Wolfeboro.

  Cost

The Town of Wolfeboro reserves the right to choose a contractor/vendor based on the best interest of the Town of Wolfeboro.

Cate Park Pruning, Flower and Shrub Care Specifications

Cate Park is known to many in Wolfeboro as the “crown jewel” of our public spaces. It is a highly visible, well kept and clean park. Public events, concerts and weddings are common throughout the summer months. For many visitors who arrive by boat, Cate Park is the first glimpse of Wolfeboro they get, and its proximity to the downtown village of Wolfeboro makes it a focal point and gathering spot for many.

The Department of Parks and Recreation maintains the park to the highest level and expects that all outside contractors who work in the park adhere to the same high level of care and regular maintenance to keep this park in beautiful condition for the public.

Maintain all flower beds, planting seasonal annuals and perennials as needed. Please include an annual cost to purchase plants/bulbs, including cost to replace dead or diseased plants.

Hand-inspect every plant (other than trees) in Cate Park for disease, proper pruning, invasive plants, etc...

Prune all plants (other than trees) to maintain a manicured and well-tended appearance for Cate Park.

Water all plant beds on a weekly basis from May 1 to October 31. Hand watering is required primarily in the beds

bordering Main St. Irrigation system covers most of the rest of the park.

Weed all plant beds as needed to maintain a manicured and well-tended appearance for Cate Park.

Fertilize all plant beds on an annual basis.

Replace diseased or damaged plants.

Remove invasive plants from Cate Park and make recommendations for replacements as needed.

Wolfeboro Parks and Recreation Staff mulches beds on annual basis.

Meet with Maintenance Foreman at beginning of season to discuss care for the season.
