Warmth & More Fund

In March 2020 Wolfeboro voters overwhelmingly approved a town warrant article creating The Warmth & More Fund to assist our neighbors in need. The Fund is housed under Wolfeboro’s Trustees of the Trust Funds. All funds are raised by donation with no tax dollars going to the fund.

Why Warmth & More?

While many people think of Wolfeboro as wealthy, there is in fact great need in the community. Each month the Municipal Electric Department has to deliver disconnection notices to roughly 150 customers who are unable to pay their bills. While federal heating programs exist to help, they have strict limits on those who are eligible and the amount that they are able to receive. Sometimes the amount of government assistance is not enough to get people through the winter. Some people have great need but do not meet the financial guidelines of government fuel assistance programs which do not consider factors such as illnesses, recent job losses, or a broken furnace. Heating sources such as kerosene, pellets or wood do not qualify for assistance. As a result, some in our community are not able to keep the lights and heat on.

How You Can Help

Your donation to the Warmth & More Fund will provide needed funds to local individuals and families in need. Funds will be made available through the Wolfeboro Welfare Director to assist those who may or may not qualify for the federal heating assistance program and to make up any shortfall. The funds will be used for paying electric and fuel bills, repairing broken heating systems, purchasing coats, boots or blankets, or any other relevant needs.
